Book Review: Where Wildflowers Bloom

Where Wildflowers Bloom
Hailey Renee

This little book pulled me in immediately. Where Wildflowers Bloom is one of Hailey Renee’s Homegrown Hearts books, a series of small-town standalone romances that focus on healing, hope, and trust.

Wildflowers focuses on Hazel, a woman who has given up a rather promising career for an old, crumbling flower farm in Indiana. Her grouchy neighbor, Beau, is skeptical of the city girl’s abilities but through the course of the story, both find there is more to the other than meets the eye.

I loved the small nods to Beyond The Teacups, Hailey’s debut and the first book in the collection. I also fell for Beau alongside Hazel — I guess stubborn and grouchy, but supportive men are my type. If my husband reads this … well, you know exactly how you are 😂

Renee has really found her voice with this installment. The banter, the humor, the images painted, and the beautiful small town really won me over. And the small love story in the beginning of the book made my heart ache! Ultimately every character was so relatable, so human, that I felt like I was there alongside real people.

I also really appreciated Hailey’s honest account of chronic pain/invisible illness and that she perfectly balances the harsh reality of high pain days with a lingering presence of hope despite everything.

If you enjoy fade-to-black contemporary romance with sunshine and grumpy, fish out of water, and found family tropes… you don’t want to miss Where Wildflowers Bloom.
