Book Review: The Jasad Heir

The Jasad Heir

Quick Review:

The Jasad Heir takes place in an Egyptian-inspired fantasy realm and follows the only remaining heir of Jasad, long thought dead after her kingdom was destroyed by neighboring monarchs.

It is a story of trauma, fragmented memories, found family, suppressed magic, genocide, and rebellion.

There is a true enemies to lovers arc, and I enjoyed that all of the characters are morally grey, with secrets and motives you’ll continuously wonder about.

I enjoyed the tension between our two main characters and the slow revelations of Sylvia/Essiya’s past.

The audiobook was incredible! It features two narrators and sucks you straight into the story with expression, humor, and an amazing grasp of the characters voiced.

I definitely recommend the Jasad Heir if you like fantasy or romantasy — and I appreciate that this one features a truly diverse cast of characters and culture.

This was a great read for Arab-American Heritage Month, but I highly recommend reading diversely all year.
