Shadows of Thysia
C.C. Martinez

Shadows of Thysia features some of my favorite tropes, from enemies to…something… to hidden magic and rebellions.
Eleni is an ER nurse whose life is turned upside down with the death of her grandmother. She returns home to take over her grandma’s farm, and through a chain of events she finds herself thrust into a magical realm with nothing from home but an heirloom necklace.
All she wants is to get home, but she gets swept up in a rebellion and pulled in two directions by two very different elemental men.
I loved the portrayal of Eleni’s family farm, her horse Eddie, and her life there. I’d love to see the loose ends with Cody, the local sheriff and her childhood friend, tied up.
The contracts in Thysia revolving around blood oaths was a fascinating concept, and explained some of the insta-love feelings our FMC has for the two men. I’m still curious about her initial connection to Ehlark, and curious about the Tracker’s motives.
There were also some really fantastic one-liners, starting with the very first sentence. “I should’ve been a stripper.” Talk about a hook!
Ultimately, this book worked to set up a series but answered very few of my questions 😂 I definitely will be waiting for book two!
