Midnight Walker
Charity F Nelson

Midnight Walker by Charity F Nelson is a gritty story of hope in a dark, vampire- controlled dystopia.
Mia has lived her whole life under the reign of the vampires, who treat humans not even as second class citizens but as cattle or slaves.
Mia’s defining drive is love for her daughter — brought about through a breeding program and quickly taken from Mia’s arms to be raised by vampire caretakers until she’s old enough to work, just like all human children.
Mia, a rule follower in every way who knows the Accords (vampire laws) by heart, gets accidentally swept into an underground rebellion that will change her life – and maybe all of humanity’s – forever.
I really enjoyed the urban dystopia setting and the harsh descriptions of a life with one goal: survival.
I personally would have loved more details of Mia’s childhood and more on the inter-human dynamics in general, but this story was unique and brought me in directions I absolutely did not expect.
The addition of the horrifying creatures underground, the halfling leader, and Dr Keith gave the story a unique edge and a lot of lore.
Ultimately, a really solid dystopian/urban fantasy read that will leave you questioning what’s next.
