Ghost Dater
Brandi Autumn

Equal parts thriller, mystery, and commentary on modern dating, Ghost Dater delves into the dangers of life as a woman — specifically, the danger of our partners, friends, and family members being our worst nightmare.
I have really mixed thoughts on this book, because I think that the story was incredible! I was completely invested in the plot and desperate to learn the outcome. It was fun piecing together the connections between characters and storylines.
I really found myself rooting for the morally grey character and wanting more details of both protagonists’ lives.
On that note, I do wish that the characters had been explored more completely. We got to learn their motivations and their histories, but it felt like being told about them rather than getting to know the people naturally. Part of this may have been because the dialogue felt unnaturally stiff, like the characters were reading lines.
All in all, I was invested in the plot and the characters the entire read.
Despite its heavy themes, this was a relatively quick and easy read.
It is definitely a plot-based story. It’s worth reading if you like lighter books about serial killers, female cops, and smashing the patriarchy.
